Angel's eAuctions originally bought and sold on Ebay under the name of "Sheop" and then "TCTDesign". Both of those names were owned by Terry C. Toomey/Wagner. In late 2002 Terry decided to make a final name change and chose Angel's eAuctions.
My background in antiques came from my mother, who co-owned a small shop in Kearny, NJ while I was young. They sold collectibles and antiques, and I loved going to the shop after school and watching my mother and her friend Betty, appraise items, price them and then wait to see if they sold. I always stood and looked around each day to see what was new and what was missing!
I collect both vintage and antique teapots,(* for a description of what is "vintage" and what is "antique" see our main page!*) but have a soft heart for the mis-fits that other teapot collectors wouldn't even look at! I also enjoy collecting vintage cooking and mixing bowls from Homer Laughlin, Kitchen Kraft, Hall, Harker Potteries and Pyrex, but always use them in everyday life as they were intended! I have a nice collection of vintage linens that I enjoy displaying on my dining room table, or assorted antique tables and shelves around my home.
Angel's eAuctions came from realization that there was a gap in the antiques and vintage items industry. I noticed that gap in 1999, but only truly acted upon it in 2001 when I was asked to lend my knowledge of antiques, my sales training techniques and marketing education from my corporate years, and my high energy level to assist a friend with handling an estate sale.
The gap is the one created by high end dealers who charge overwhelming fees, expect everything to be set up for them, and treat the home owner as a non-person. They tend to see only the bottom line - the dollar sign. That's where I saw a need and decided I wanted to fill it. We're not "bottom dollar feeders"!!
Angel's eAuctions is not afraid to get dirty in your attic or basement. We treat your grandmother's broken rocking chair with as much respect as her 100 year old, perfect condition, service for 12, china and crystal set! We come to your home and pick up your items for online Ebay auctions, or we come to your house and clean and organize and inventory and price - without charge. And we listen. Every great old item has a story, and in the telling and retelling of these stories we've made some wonderful friends! Also, the more you tell us about that prized item your great-grandfather kept in the closet, the better we can represent it to potential buyers! We do all the advertising, all the photography, all the billing and paperwork. We handle all the headaches so you don't have to. We help families deal with an estate that has to be liquidated, we help mom clean out the last of the grown kids things, we help precious items from a wonderful past come to life again in someone else's home. And we enjoy our work.
I have a wonderful partner in Angel's eAuctions - without whom, none of what we do would be possible.
My partner is my best friend, who also just happens to be my husband, Michael. He supports me in all I do and has become the backbone to our small, struggling business. He is our shipping manager for the online auctions division. Michael's background as a manager with the USPS for 22 years allows him to pack items safely and quickly and to make the most of shipping rates and materials. I am pleased and proud to say that through his hard work (and some nights of packing auctions until the wee hours of the morning so they are ready for next day shipping!) we have never had any breakage or damage to any item we have shipped! Michael is a talented guitarist and vocalist in his spare time and works during the day for a large publishing house in NYC as their Distribution Manager.
The name Angel's eAuctions has evoked many questions from clients and people we meet. Are we Angel's? Well, I'll tell you. The name came from my nick name from my husband - who called me "his Angel" the day we met. Shortly after Maggie and I did that first estate sale, I realized that her nick name was for many years, from her "kids" at the school she works at, Angel. When she met my husband, she said, before even knowing his name, that he looked just like a painting she had of the Archangel Michael. So there you have it. The the Angels of Angel's eAuctions!!
